1-2 Years Before Application:

  • Research Programs: Start exploring residency programs in your chosen specialty. Consider factors like location, requirements, and program highlights.

  • Prepare for USMLE Exams: Begin studying for USMLE Steps 1 and 2 CK to aim for high scores.

  • Gain US Clinical Experience: Arrange electives, observerships, or externships to demonstrate your skills and commitment.

  • Secure Letters of Recommendation: Identify potential mentors, preferably US physicians, for recommendation letters.

12-18 Months Before Match:

  • Take USMLE Exams: Aim to complete Steps 1 and 2 CK at least a year before applying.
