Match A Resident offers a range of additional filters to help you narrow down residency programs based on your specific criteria. This guide will help you understand how to use these filters effectively.

Step 1: Log In to Your Account

  1. Click on the “Login” button at the top right corner of the homepage.

  2. Enter your email and password.

  3. Click “Sign In.”

Step 2: Access the Filters

  1. Once logged in, navigate to your desired specialty from your dashboard.

  2. Click on “Additional Filters” on the right side of the screen.

Step 3: Customize Your Filters

  1. Hide Programs Requiring:

    • Select any requirements you do not meet or wish to exclude from your search:

      • USMLE Step 1 on first attempt

      • USMLE Step 2 CK on the first attempt

      • USMLE Step 2CS on the first attempt historically

      • ECFMG certification by the time of application

      • Step 1 for Interview

      • Step 2 CK for Interview

  2. Hide Programs That:

    • Check the boxes to hide programs that:

      • Passed their application deadline

      • Have no IMGs but accept IMG applications

  3. Show:

    • Geographic Location: Search for programs in specific locations.

    • IMG Friendliness: Filter programs based on their friendliness to IMGs.

    • Setting Preference: Choose your preferred program setting (e.g., urban, rural).

  4. Program Links:

    • Check the boxes to include programs from specific links:

      • InterviewLink Programs

      • MatchLink Programs

      • CountryLink Programs

      • SchoolLink Programs

Step 4: Save Your Filters

  • After selecting your desired filters, click the “Save” button to apply them.

  • If you need to start over, click the “Clear all” button to reset all filters.

Additional Tips

  • Regular Updates: Periodically review and update your filters as your application status or preferences change.

  • Accuracy: Ensure your filter settings align with your qualifications and goals to get the most relevant program matches.
